Spring Clean and Essential Checks for your Campervan 2025 Adventures

Spring has arrived, and it’s time to wake your campervan from hibernation! Before you hit the road for new adventures, a proper clean and a few essential checks will make sure everything runs smoothly and comfortably. Whether you’re heading off for weekend getaways or longer journeys, this guide will help you prep your van for a safe and fresh start to the season.

Essential Checks

Battery

Test your leisure and vehicle batteries to make sure they’re holding charge properly. Cold weather can reduce battery efficiency, so if you’re noticing slow startups or weak lighting, it might be time to recharge or replace them.

Lights

Check that all your lights—headlights, brake lights, indicators, interior, and spotlights—are working correctly. It’s a quick job that’s crucial for safety, especially if you’re planning to drive at night or in remote areas.

Gas and Water Pipework

Inspect for any cracks, leaks, or corrosion in your gas and water systems. Run water through the pipes and test your gas appliances. It’s also a good idea to check gas regulators and pipe connections for wear.

Oil Level

Top up or change your engine oil to keep everything running smoothly. If your camper’s been parked up for months, old oil can degrade and become less effective at protecting your engine.

Windscreen Wipers and Screen Wash

Give your wipers a test—if they’re streaky or split, replace them. Also, refill your screen wash reservoir with a fresh solution for clear visibility during those scenic drives.

Tyre Pressure

Check the pressure in all your tyres, including the spare. Tyres can lose air over time, and uneven pressure can affect fuel efficiency and road safety. While you’re at it, inspect for wear or cracks.

Fuel

Make sure you’ve got enough fresh fuel in the tank. Old fuel can go stale if it’s been sitting for months. Top it up and take a short drive to circulate fluids through the engine.

Cleaning

Kitchen Area

Wipe down all surfaces, clean out cupboards, and double-check expiry dates on your food supplies. Give your fridge a deep clean and leave the door ajar when not in use to avoid smells.

Bathroom

Scrub the toilet, shower area, and any sinks with eco-friendly cleaners. Refill toiletries and check your grey water tank for any build-up. A fresh-smelling bathroom is always a win!

Clean Solar Panels

Dust, pollen, or bird mess can reduce the efficiency of your solar panels. Give them a gentle wipe with a soft cloth and water—no harsh chemicals needed.

Wash Your Campervan

Give the exterior a proper wash, including the roof. Winter grime, salt, and dirt can damage paintwork over time. A clean van not only looks great but protects your investment.

Clean Cab Area

Don’t forget the driver’s seat! Vacuum floors, clean dashboards, and clear out glovebox clutter. It’s your command centre, so make it feel good to be behind the wheel again.

Clean Awning

Open up your awning and check for any mildew, mold, or damage. Give it a clean with warm soapy water and let it dry fully before rolling it back up.

Water Tanks

Flush out both fresh and waste water tanks with a tank cleaner or vinegar solution. Rinse thoroughly and let them air dry if possible. This prevents unpleasant smells and keeps water tasting fresh.

Light Maintenance

Touch Up Painting

Look over your van for chips, rust spots, or scratches in the paintwork. Touching them up early prevents corrosion and keeps your camper looking fresh for the year ahead.

Laundry

Cushions and Bedding

Wash all cushion covers, blankets, and bedding to remove any musty smells picked up over winter. Fresh linens make your camper feel like home again—and it’s always nice to climb into a clean bed after a day of adventuring.

10 Reasons Campervans Will Be Hugely Popular in 2025

2025 is shaping up to be the year of the campervan!

From the rolling hills of the Lake District to the stunning coastline of Cornwall, more and more people in the UK are embracing the joy and freedom of life on the road. Whether it’s for a weekend getaway or a months-long adventure, campervans are capturing the hearts of Brits everywhere. Here are 10 reasons why campervans are the ultimate trend this year:

1. Freedom to Work from Anywhere

Remote working is here to stay, and campervans are turning the UK’s most beautiful spots into mobile offices. Imagine starting your morning overlooking a serene Scottish loch or typing away with the sound of waves crashing on a Welsh beach. With mobile Wi-Fi and clever workspaces becoming standard features, campervans let you swap the office desk for the great outdoors without missing a beat.

2. A Greener Way to Travel

Eco-friendly travel is on everyone’s mind, and campervans tick all the right boxes. Say goodbye to endless flights and hello to a sustainable, low-impact way to explore. Modern campervans come equipped with solar panels, energy-efficient appliances, and even composting toilets. Plus, they make it easy to enjoy slow travel, soaking up the charm of local villages and countryside instead of rushing between destinations.

3. Affordable Adventures

Travelling doesn’t have to cost the earth. With a campervan, you save on pricey hotels, restaurant bills, and transport costs. From budget-friendly campsites in Devon to free wild camping spots in Scotland, your biggest expenses will be petrol and groceries. And if you own a campervan, you can even rent it out when you’re not using it, making it an even smarter investment.

4. Customised Just for You

The beauty of campervans is that no two are the same. Whether you’re dreaming of a cosy reading nook, a chic little kitchenette, or even a mini pub setup (yes, that’s a thing!), modern campervans are endlessly customisable. Camper Camper and DIY enthusiasts are creating vans that are as unique as the people who drive them.

5. The Rise of #Vanlife

The vanlife movement is absolutely thriving. Social media is bursting with dreamy images of campervans parked in front of epic landscapes, cosy interiors decked out with fairy lights, and travellers sharing their adventures around the UK. It’s a lifestyle that’s inspiring thousands to pack up and hit the road, chasing sunsets and making memories.

6. A Boost for Mental Wellbeing

There’s nothing quite like escaping into nature to clear your head. Whether it’s the fresh air of the Peak District or the peaceful beaches of Norfolk, campervans make it easy to find your happy place. Leave behind the stress of everyday life, unplug, and reconnect with the simple joys of the outdoors. A few days on the road can feel like a total reset for the soul.

7. Next-Level Campervan Tech

Campervans in 2025 are smarter and sleeker than ever before. From clever storage solutions to energy-efficient gadgets, modern vans are built for comfort and convenience. Features like solar power systems, touch-controlled lighting, and smart fridges mean you can travel in style and stay off-grid for longer. And with improved safety tech like parking sensors and advanced braking systems, they’re a joy to drive too.

8. Living Simply, Living Well

Minimalism is more than a trend; it’s a way of life that’s resonating with more people than ever. Campervan living is the ultimate way to embrace simplicity. With limited space, you’ll focus on what truly matters: great company, unforgettable experiences, and the beauty of the world around you. It’s all about quality over quantity.

9. Perfect for Family Adventures

Families across the UK are discovering that campervans are the perfect way to create magical memories together. From exploring the Yorkshire Dales to setting up camp by the Cornish coast, kids and parents alike love the excitement of the open road. Plus, campervans offer flexibility—you can change plans on a whim, stop for an impromptu picnic, or settle in for a cosy night under the stars.

10. Travel Without Limits

With the unpredictability of travel restrictions still lingering, campervans offer a reliable and safe way to explore. No cancelled flights, no airport queues—just the freedom to go where you want, when you want. Whether it’s a quiet weekend in the Cotswolds or a grand tour of the UK’s national parks, campervans put you in control of your adventure.

Campervans are more than just a way to get from A to B

They’re a lifestyle, a mindset, and a gateway to adventure. In 2025, they’re set to become the ultimate way to explore the UK, combining comfort, sustainability, and endless opportunities for discovery. So why wait? The open road is calling, and your next great adventure is just around the corner!

Campervans banned from parking

In response to escalating concerns from residents and safety authorities, North Yorkshire Council has initiated an 18-month trial restricting overnight parking for motorhomes and campervans in select coastal areas. The affected locations include the A171 at Sandsend, Scarborough’s North Bay (Royal Albert Drive), and Cayton Bay (Osgodby Road southern end and Filey Road). The restriction prohibits parking between 11 pm and 7 am.

This decision follows a significant increase in complaints regarding noise, waste disposal, and safety hazards associated with the growing number of motorhomes in these popular seaside spots. Notably, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service has raised concerns about fire risks, emphasizing that caravans should be parked six meters apart to prevent fire spread—standards typically maintained in authorized sites but often lacking in these informal settings.

The trial period includes a six-month window for public consultation, allowing residents, visitors, and motorhome users to share their perspectives. Feedback collected during this phase will inform the council’s decision on whether to make the restrictions permanent or adjust them as necessary.

While some community members support the ban, citing the preservation of public spaces and safety, others express concerns about potential negative impacts on tourism and local businesses. Alternative solutions proposed include designating specific areas for overnight motorhome parking with appropriate facilities, aiming to balance the needs of visitors and residents.

As the trial progresses, the council remains open to public input and encourages all stakeholders to participate in the consultation process to achieve a balanced and effective resolution.
